Lopimune is a medication used in the treatment of HIV in combination with other medicines of antiretroviral nature. Each capsule contains 200 mg of lopinavir and 50 mg of ritonavir. These tablets must be taken once per day in combination with other anti-HIV medications to arrest HIV to AIDS further development.
Dosage
These pills may be taken either on hungry or an empty stomach without cracking it. Beginners of anti-HIV treatment should apply 4 tablets pills at once or 2 pills in the morning and 2 in the evening. People who have undergone treatment with Nevirapine, Fosamprenavir, Amprenavir, Nelfinavir or Efavirenz should apply 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening. The recommended dosage may be increased up to 3 pills twice a day for patients demonstrating a poor tolerability to Lopimune or its components.
Contraindications
People with anamnesis of hypersensitivity to ritonavir or lopinavir should NOT USE Lopimune.
Besides, Lopimune should not be applied with the following medications:
- methylergonovine;
- antemizole;
- triazolam;
- terfenadine;
- midazolam;
- dihydroergotamine;
- ergonovine;
- ergotamine;
- cisapride;
- pimozide.
Side Effects
Diarrhea is the most common side effect after taking Lopimune. But this drug may also cause the following adverse reactions:
- body fat reaggregation;
- digestive tract disorders;
- malaise;
- back pain;
- chest pain;
- cardiovascular system disorders;
- hypothyroidism;
- Cushing’s syndrome;
- anaemia;
- anxiety;
- apathy;
- diabetes mellitus;
- lactic acidosis;
- bone necrosis;
- dizziness;
- dyskinesia;
- asthma;
- pharyngitis;
- skin discoloration;
- loss of taste;
- impaired vision sense;
- rhinitis;
- sinusitis.
